About Pacific Rim Fishing Charters est 1981 and Founder P.R.F.C

Pacific Rim Fishing Charters was founded in 1981  P.R.F.C founder and fish master Glenn Kaczmar came from a large fishing family and had his first Ucluelet West Coast fishing trip at the age of 9 in 1967. This experience bonded Glenn to the Village of Ucluelet and fishing on the La Perouse Bank located on the West Coast of Vancouver Island which consists of the villages of Ucluelet, Tofino and Bamfield as well as the Broken Islands Group and Pacific Rim National Park. Returning year after year this relationship lead to decades of outstanding and productive fishing trips on the La Perouse Bank.
It is our goal to provide the most comfortable and safe fishing vacation possible. To do so, we have invested heavily in obtaining the largest privately chartered trolling vessels  to operate out of the Ucluelet/Tofino area. Pacific Rim has three 38 foot Sport Fishing vessels available. These vessels are extremely stable while providing fully enclosed heated cabins with large outdoor fishing platforms, high gunnels and self-bailing cockpits are also a feature of these boats which make for an added level of security. All Pacific Rim Fishing Charters vessels are licensed &  insured and exceed DOT (Department of Transportation) certification guidelines. Our vessels are capable of comfortably accommodating 1 to 6 people per boat.
All charters include light tackle rods and reels, bait, tackle and cleaning of your catch, your guide and all fuel costs. Our guides are West Coast fishing experts to ensure you the best possible fishing trip. Pacific Rim Fishing Charters has become one of the most successful fishing charter businesses in Ucluelet and the surrounding areas. That success is not solely based on the fantastic fishing in surrounding waters, but on the dedication owner, staff, and guides have to make every customer feel like a friend more than a patron.

Glenn Kaczmar –  Founder, Fishmaster ,owner

Glenn’s first fishing trip to Ucluelet was in 1967 – he was 9 years old. He used to walk the commercial fishing docks learning everything he could to catch more salmon and halibut. He would shovel salt ice out of commercial holds and offer to tie gear for free – all to learn about the local fishery. Glenn was rewarded with commercial fishing gear as well as some of the most productive waypoints the La Perouse bank has to offer.

To be able to fish even more,Glenn purchased a 16 foot Double Eagle boat at a age of 16 years. After High School, Glenn began working for Jim Pattison Toyota as a mechanic apprentice. He received his Trade qualification and Inter Provincial licenses in 1984.

Glenn is one of the fortunate few who have successfully turned a lifelong passion for fishing into a highly successful business. Building on his experience and his expertise. Glenn started Pacific Rim Fishing Charters in 1983 and completed there new 20000 sq foot guest lodge in 2011. Continuing to follow his passion, Glenn and his wife Dianna moved to Ucluelet full time in 2005 to expand his business to what it is today.

About Ucluelet

Ucluelet is a village (population about 1,700) on the west coast of Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada. Ucluelet means ‘safe harbour’ in the indigenous Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) language. It is pronounced “You-Clue-let.” Until the early 1870s, Ucluelet was a First Nation village with the main reservation at the entrance of the Inlet on the east side, just as it is today. As far as is known, the first settlers here were fur sealers, who established a trading post at Spring Cove, located at the southern tip of the Ucluelet Peninsula. The Village of Ucluelet was incorporated on February 26, 1952, and later changed its status to the District of Ucluelet in 1997, to reflect the increasing population of the community. In August 1959, the long awaited road from Port Alberni was finally opened, with the subsequent steady growth of Ucluelet to its present population of approximately 1,900. Now a logging, fishing and tourist village at the south end of Pacific Rim National Park, Ucluelet is a base for commercial and sport fishing, as well as wildlife and whale watching excursions. Ucluelet is making the transition from a resource-based economy to a tourism-based economy like its neighbor Tofino. Ucluelet is located at the northern edge of Barkley Sound between two sections of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve: the Broken Group Islands and Long Beach.Long Beach is a portion of Pacific Rim National Park, located between the villages of Tofino and Ucluelet and is the most accessible and most developed component of the Pacific Rim National Park. Named for its 12-mile stretch of surf-swept sand, Long Beach is open year-round and offers outstanding beach hiking, surfing, storm watching and whale watching .The Wild Pacific trail, a popular wilderness trail is becoming world famous.
